I hope my work in some way will spark the viewers’ imagination, pique their interest and inspire further exploration into the world of art.

My abstract paintings spring from life. Inspired by the idea of abstracting drawings projected on a wall, I paint the strong and bold shapes I see when I combine and distort photographs of my own shadow.

NEWS

Larry hopes to have some recent work posted soon. His computer died in the Fall so he has been without the tools and files needed to update the site. Larry’s work was included in the Abstract Forum Showcase at the Wake Visual Art Exchange gallery in November and currently in the show Open Source at VAE. Through February Larry has work hanging at the Coldwell Banker rental office at HUE in Downtown Raleigh. Larry is a member of the abstract artist collective known as The ChromaZones, and they sold collaborative paintings at both Works of Heart, the Triangle’s Art Auction Against AIDS as well as the 2012 For The Love of Art Gala supporting the Wake Visual Art Exchange at the Downtown Marriott Hotel.

Check back soon to see some of Larry’s recent work!

Larry painted live Saturday July 30 at ComeUnityNow, a festival of art, music and dance in Downtown Raleigh to raise money to help victims of the Raleigh tornado. In the spirit of bringing folks together to aid those in need, Larry invited festival goers young and old to have their shadows painted on a giant 18 x 8 foot canvas. At one point early in the process, a line had formed of those eager to have Larry paint their shadow!  The ComeUnityNow painting was a fresh departure from Larry’s usual work that is based on photographs he takes of his own shadow.
